About Purrview

A calm, honest guide to living with cats.

Purrview is a free guide to understanding and caring for cats. One clear page per question, working tools beside the advice, and every health fact sourced and reviewed against International Cat Care and WSAVA standards.

Why it exists

Cat advice is everywhere. Trustworthy cat advice is harder to find.

An owner asking "how much should I feed, is this normal, is this plant dangerous, when do I need a vet?" should have one calm place to look. That is what we are building, page by page. We follow the editorial standards recommended by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons for digital pet health information.

01

Advice shaped by what is being sold

Much cat content exists to move food, litter or supplements.

02

One long article for every cat

A kitten and a senior cat need different answers.

03

Calculators without context

Numbers appear with no method and no limits stated.

04

No word on who checked it, or when

Health pages rarely show a reviewer or a date.

Principles

Four rules every page follows

One page per question

Short answer, what to do, when to call the vet, sources. Same order every time.

Tools beside the advice

Calculators sit with the guide that explains them, and state their method and limits.

Sourced and reviewed

Health and nutrition pages carry a source, a review date and the reviewer's role.

Guidance is not for sale

Any paid link is labelled and kept apart. It never changes what a page says.

Process

How a page is made

1

Research

We start from veterinary guidelines and primary sources — WSAVA, International Cat Care, peer-reviewed journals — not other blogs.

2

Write

Every page uses the same template, in plain language, with each fact tied to a source.

3

Review

Health, nutrition and toxicity pages are checked by a veterinary professional before they go live.

4

Publish and revisit

Pages show their review date. Old pages are flagged until they are checked again.

The honest part

What Purrview is, and what it is not

What we do

  • Explain general cat care in plain language
  • Give estimates, with the method and limits shown
  • Tell you clearly when it is time to call a vet
  • Keep your tool inputs in your browser

What we don't do

  • Diagnose your cat or replace an examination
  • Give medication doses or treatment plans
  • Recommend a product because someone paid us
  • Publish thin pages just to fill a gap

About Purrview — common questions

Who writes the guides on Purrview?

Guides are written by the Purrview editorial team and reviewed by a registered veterinary professional before publication. Health and nutrition pages follow guidelines from WSAVA and International Cat Care.

What sources does Purrview use?

Primary sources include peer-reviewed veterinary journals, WSAVA nutrition guidelines, RCVS guidance, and International Cat Care. Every health claim links to its source. We do not copy from other pet websites.

Can I suggest a guide or report an error?

Yes. Use the contact email on this page to report mistakes or suggest topics. Every error report is checked against the primary source within five working days.

Is Purrview affiliated with any pet food brands?

No. Purrview is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or paid by any pet food, veterinary product, or pet service company. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed clearly on every page it affects.

Does Purrview store any personal data?

No personal data is collected. Tool inputs (your cat's age, weight) stay in your browser only and are never sent to a server. No login is required for any feature.
